TransHumance 2013

The transhumance is a link between nature and culture, between man and animal, just as ZCS is a strong link between technology and nature. This has inspired the leading company in the field of mechatronics based in Valdarno to sponsor “TransHumance 2013”: a unique event that involves groups of horse riders, together with over 4000 wild animals originating from Italy, France and also Morocco as part of the project "Marseille, the European Capital of Culture for 2013.”

The large international group set out on 17 May 2013, following an itinerary that included some cities of Provence, where bivouac zones were created, and reached the city of Marseille on 9 June 2013, welcomed by over 300,000 revellers. It was the perfect occasion to present Groom-Robot, the robotic horse feeding system, to horse lovers and people who are passionately committed to the health and wellbeing of one of man’s best friends. The feeding system perfectly simulates natural grazing by allowing horses to eat hay and feed in regular and personalised doses throughout the day. This has surprising effects on the health and wellbeing of the horse. The number, hour and time of the daily openings can be programmed to suit the dietary needs of the animal.
A feeding system that perfectly reproduces a horse’s natural diet means the horse is much calmer and more willing to be mounted. Groom-Robot is an extremely accurate tool used and endorsed by veterinarians for preventing and treating pathologies connected to the horse’s digestive system. It comes with hi-tech optional extras that allow constantly updating its operation. In addition, the ZCS Technical Service Centres are available to provide support and assistance to restore the functions of Groom Robot. ZCS continues its innovative approach by strengthening the links between wellbeing, health and technology.
